01 · Gateway to Johar

Munsyari

A mountain town where Panchachuli fills the horizon and the old trails of Johar begin.

The short story

A base,
a beginning.

Munsyari sits in the upper reaches of Pithoragarh and works as the gateway to the Johar region.

For generations, routes from here followed the Gori Ganga towards high villages, glaciers and old trans-Himalayan trade paths. Today it is both a quiet place to watch the Panchachuli peaks and a base for longer journeys to Milam, Ralam and Namik.

DHURA’s future Munsyari journeys will balance easy local days with carefully planned walks into the surrounding landscape.
